Using the tools

Terms of Service

ToneLab provides browser-generated reference signals for personal, educational, and audio setup use.

What the tools provide

The tone generator, sweep generator, and channel check produce digital audio signals. They do not measure your equipment’s acoustic output, hearing thresholds, real-world decibel levels, or hardware condition. Do not treat them as a medical test or a calibrated measurement system.

Responsible playback

Lower the volume on your output device before starting. Keep tests brief and comfortable. Stop before changing speakers, headphones, cables, or output devices. Do not increase the level simply because a low or high tone is difficult to hear, and do not use the tools to disturb other people or animals.

Browser and equipment limitations

Results depend on browser support, device settings, audio processing, speakers, and headphones. A frequency setting describes the requested digital signal, not a guarantee of the sound produced by your device. A missing or unusual sound does not by itself identify a hardware or hearing problem.

These utilities are provided as available and may be changed or unavailable. Keep a copy of any downloaded file you need; the site does not store your generated audio or maintain an account history.
