A reference, not a measurement
These tools generate a signal; they do not record your speakers, measure sound pressure, diagnose hearing, or certify an audio system. What you hear depends on your output device and its settings.

Keep the device volume low
Start with your computer, phone, or amplifier volume turned down. The tool’s digital level is not a reading of the loudness reaching your ears. Stop if the sound is uncomfortable; do not turn it up just because an extreme frequency is difficult to hear.
